FINAL POST FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR

...
the school year has ended...
and the days of being BARTH is over but the MEMORIES are going to linger in us for the rest of our lives!

to the teachers,
we LOVE YOU ALL from the BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

MAM JAMILLA,
Ma'am! Thank You so much! You have helped us become closer to God through the Gospel!

MAM SARMIENTO,
Thank you so much ma'am for all the lessons and stories that you shared with us!

MAM MAGAOAY,
Salamat po sa pagpapapalawak ng aming kaalaman ukol sa ating wika! Mahal ka po namin!

MAM GUTIERREZ,
Ma'am! Thank you for all the funny jokes and the very nerve-wracking questions!

MAM ROSALES,
Thank you for being like our second mom! We thank you also for challenging us to realize that we can do more than what we think we can!

SIR DEITA,
Thank you for letting us learn about the world of technology! Thank you for inspiring all of us, especially one of our dearest classmates!

MAM HERNANDEZ,
Thank you for enhancing our cooking skills! We learned so much from you!

MAM VIVAS,
Thank you for making us physically fit and mentally prepared for emergencies and involving us against the misuse of drugs!

MAM ORLINA,
Thank you for giving us lots of things to do, for without these, we will have not bonded more together.

and especially, TO SIR CASTRO!

HERE IS OUR MESSAGE FOR YOU:

If ever we would be asked to describe a certain Mr. Anthony Castro, I’m sure, it wouldn’t fit 300 characters and still, the words would go on even if it reached the maximum limit.

He was a person who knew how things work; who was able to see through the veil.

During Mondays, he would see through our eyes and he could tell that we spent yesterday night stressing on a truck load of homework by the protuberant gaze we had as we stared on how to simplify quadratic equations.

He was always gets mad at us when we neglect things; when we’re insensitive and most of the time, we’re not even aware that our actions would really touch a nerve.

Even if when Si gets angry and steam is already coming out of his nose and ears, we’re sure to miss all of it. After all, when a person gets mad at you, that means he really cares, right?

He let us in his life; permitte us to make memories of our own with him and so unselfishly shared a part of himself with us.

He thought of ways us up in Math class; like a morning coffee, he gave us a refreshing break and wiped out every pent up stress etched on our faces.

His smile would always crack us up and as many teachers are there, it’s rare for a teacher to care so deeply and be so involved in the lives of his students.

Actually, he has a choice. He could’ve just served as our adviser, reminding us of notices and scolding us if we misbehaved. But no, Sir Tony chose to be so much more than that.

He was aware of what we need, what we lack and what is preventing us from being the super students we could be.

He always checks up on us, inquiring on how we are doing and assessing our improvements as a student and as a person.

He’s like the bobbing and swaying sun flower in plants vs. zombies that never fails to provide constant burst of sunlight and energizing us all.

He was able to blend so well with us that he wasn’t anyone different; a friend who’s always so open and a teacher who could solve even the most macabre algebraic problem.

We wish you wouldn’t go; stay with us and be one with us. The memories we’ve shared would always remain like brilliant gemstones above the ocean floor. Sparkling indefinitely and fastidously.

Although we only have one last question to the person who had dramatically influenced and made a change to our personalities.

-barth

P.S.

Sir…

Who is Maam Vivas in your life?

HAPPY FEAST DAY ST. THOMAS!

Today, the 28th day of January, is a special day for every member of the Thomasian community.
Why?
Well, the reason is that it is the Feast Day of our patron saint, Saint Thomas Aquinas.
The patron saint was born in the castle of Rocca Secca at around the years 1224 or 1225 to his loving parents, Landulfo d' Aquino and Theodora da Theate.
He entered the monastery of Monte Cassino. In 1239, he was sent to the University of Naples to study for five years the liberal arts and sciences. He joined the Order of Friar Preachers or the Dominicans in late April of 1244.
His family was then indignantly mad because they wanted him to succeed his relative, Landulfo Sinibaldo as Abbot of Montecassino who is in the Benedictine Order. He was abducted by his own brother and locked him up in their family castle in Montesangiovanni but he was later released.
In 1245, he went to Paris for his novitiate and theological studies finishing them in Cologne in 1252 under St. Albert the Great. He was ordained priest in Cologne as well.
In spring of 1256, St. Thomas occupied the regent master's chair. He stepped down from his position in 1259 to go to Naples.
He spent his retirement years serving as lector in Orvieto, finishing the Summa Contra Gentiles and continuing to write his unfinished masterpiece, the Summa Theologiae.
Problems pursued in Paris and he was forced to occupy the regent master's chair in the Dominican Covenant until April of 1272.
He then went to Florence and Naples, at which in the latter, he served as regent of theology. His literary career ceased in the morning of the 6th of December in 1273.
Pope Gregory X requested for Saint Thomas to Attend the Council of Lyons. Along the journey, Thomas injured his head and eventually died in the Wednesday morning of March 7, 1274. The date of his burial was on the 28th of January, 1369 in Tolouse. This date also became the liturgical feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
He was proclaimed as Doctor of the Universal Church on April 11, 1567 by the Dominican Pope, St.Pius V and Patron of Catholic Schools on August 4, 1880 by Pope Leo XIII.

There! I hope you gained some knowledge about our very own patron, St. Thomas Aquinas!

Welcome!

Welcome!
This is the blog spot for St. Bartholomew 2009-2010.
Catch the latest news and activities of the class here.
I may sometimes not be able to update this but hopefully I can.
So, it's currently under construction so you have to wait for a while before you can have access to it.
